Sunday the autocrossing gave way to the Baer Brakes 3S Challenge. The 3S Challenge (Speed, Steering, and Stop) used a there-and-back format that started with an arm-drop drag race to the corner, where the two competitors turned away from each other and hauled tail back to a brake box for a time. This became the land of roasted brakes and flat-spotted tires as the competitors beat the bejeezus out of their rides for a podium spot. Like every other form of competition at Beech Bend this weekend, the 3S competition had a pretty good mix of old and new iron playing along, from street-beater 4th Gen F-bodies up to the extremely wild high-dollar autocross cars and everything in between. Cars were spun, cones were killed and a good time was had by all.
