Good News: British Touring Car Racing Is Coming To U.S. Television!

This is happy news for anyone who used to watch Speedvision when it first came on: British Touring Car Championship racing (read: angry Europeans in violent race-prepared road cars) is coming back to U.S. televisions via the CBS Sports Network and TorqueTV.com. CBS will air hour-long highlight reels from each BTCC race as well as other forms, such as EuroV8 (the recently renamed series we’ve known as the SuperStars series) on Wednesdays during their TorqueTV block and TorqueTV.com will have the episodes available for streaming.

For those who aren’t familiar with BTCC, here’s a basic rundown of what to expect: take sedans that you’d find in normal use around Europe, race-prep then and hand them off to guys who are gentlemanly during interviews but have all the temperament of a soccer hooligan once the green flag drops. Need more proof? How about some video:

Awesome – the fastest demolition derby on the planet!

It beats F1 and dare I say it even NASCAR.

    Enjoy, my friends, enjoy!

Have been able to catch a few of these, I will loosely use the term races, on a few websites out of the UK for a while and always find them very entertaining. If this makes it easier to see them, great.
