Goodwood announces Festival of Speed lineup for 2016 Hill Climb

Goodwood announces Festival of Speed lineup for 2016 Hill Climb

Lord March’s estate in England surely has the most famous driveway in the world, as it hosts the Goodwood Festival of Speed Hill Climb on its narrow, twisting asphalt. The event features some of the most incredible racing machines ever built being caned by a star-studded drive lineup and much like last year, it’s a rare chance for old and current rivals to gather and simply show off some great purposeful machinery. Last week, Goodwood announced some of the drivers for the 2016 edition of the Hill Climb, which takes place in June.

Among the pros are a number of first-rate Formula 1 drivers like Lewis Hamilton and Sebastien Vettel, but legends like John Surtees—the only man to win world championships in both cars and on motorcycles—and Sterling Moss will turn up. Last year, seven-time MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi flew directly in from a MotoGP race and hopped straight into the Mazda 787b that won Le Mans; he’ll be back this year. As usual, there is a central celebration and for 2016, that will be BMW’s 100th anniversary so expect some great race cars and bikes from Bavaria when the event is livestreamed on Goodwood’s YouTube channel in two months. (BRIAN NOTE: The boys and I watched this whole event on our TV, streaming through their Xbox. It ruled!)

If you’re curious about the hill climb, you can watch on onboard below from the Porsche 919 Hybrid that won Le Mans in 2015 just a couple days before the Festival of Speed.

Always watch Festival of Speed. It’s amazing the variety of cars that show up every year.
