Cadillac referred to their cars as being “in a realm all it’s own” in their 1960’s advertising, and it was true: GM’s top-tier brand still had the swagger and style that the brand was great for. Big motors in long, low and wide cars, with chrome and leather were still the order of the day. But to put it mildly, these big Cadillacs were tanks in just about every sense of the word: crushing weight, tugboat-like power from a 429ci V8, and enough long, flat sheetmetal to make a bodyman have nightmares for years to come. For this particular deVille, a trip to Norway was in order, much like a lot of other large American cars, yet this wasn’t to become a restored cruiser. Painted up in flat black and red, this Caddy hides a big blue-oval secret under that modified hood: the 7.3L PowerStroke diesel yanked from a Ford F-350! It might not have the soft baseline that the Cadillac V8 would have, but the big diesel would have no trouble shoving around the deVille’s nearly 5,000 pound curb weight! The car is listed for sale for kr47,538, or roughly $5,800, so it’s very approachable in price, should you be interested in coal-rolling in style.
