(Photos by Mike Mendenhall/RideTech) – We’ve rarely heard such incredible raving about an automotive event than we did after the USCA race at Daytona International Speedway a couple of weeks back. Chad told us it was really cool being there and doing his TV hosting deal but the competitors that took to social media and various places on the internet were all gushing with praise for the track, for the event organizers, and for the experience itself that saw some cars hitting in excess of 170 mph on those legendary banked corners. It takes both skills and guts to hang onto a car coming off that banking at the big speeds and there were several out there at the USCA race really thundering the ground with their performances and speed.
In this gallery you’ll see cars like Dan Howe’s sweet G-Body Monte Carlo. Howe was always a massive Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan and despite the fact that this is the busiest part of the year at his business, he had to take the chance to race at Daytona where his legendary racing hero did. Howe went another step and had his car wrapped to look like one of Dale Sr’s old NASCAR whips. The whole thing came off great and Dan earned a trip to the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational due to his performance and spirit at Daytona. That deal comes up in November!
Aside from Howe’s Monte there’s vehicles you recognize like the 48 Hour Camaro, the AMXcess, the “Hell Boy” Chevy pickup truck, and a whole bunch more. If you ever needed proof of the advancement in the world of Pro Touring, here it is. Think anyone would have been able to host an event and get a big field of cars to attack Daytona 15 years ago concentrated around classic American muscle? If they did it would have looked like a demo derby by the time they were done. This gallery highlights great action and fast cars at Daytona. Thanks to RideTech for supplying the photos!
