While nostalgia drag racing is totally awesome and something that we have long loved around here, historic style road racing kind of brings the old school competition up another gear, right? Unlike the drags where guys are racing side by side in stuff that sort of, kind of, maybe looks like what they raced back in the day, vintage road racing is wheel to wheel. In this video we take a trip to the famed Road Atlanta course and we get in a Mustang GT350 which is right in the thick of the action and fighting for position in the field.
The driver is Curt Vogt and the event is the famed “Mitty” which is a vintage road racing event that brings people in from around the world. Why do they come from around the world? Watch this video and you’ll know why!
Assuming that this car has a 289 in it, the engine is tuned to perfection. That’s what our ears say, anyway. The crispness of the exhaust note, the instant throttle response when Voght is shifting up and down, etc.
There are some really good moments of close competition here and that’s what racing is all about. We have heard some people dig on the vintage racing as being glorified parade laps. Those people are idiots and need to watch some action like this to really get it!
