(By Tom Lohnes) – Do you want a car theoretically capable of going 300 miles per hour, but cars like the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut and Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ are too mainstream? Well, straight from the heart of Texas comes a new competitor, the Hennesey Venom F5.
Pushing over 1,800 horses from a boosted 7.6-liter V8, power going 100% to the back wheels, and a 6-speed sequential transmission, Hennessey essentially took their mental Venom GT hypercar and turned it up to about 25. Capable of 0-124 miles per hour in 4.7 seconds, It is safe to say they are bending the word street-legal a little bit on this one. The only reason I say the 0-124 time is because the 0-60 time really isn’t that impressive, at 3.0 seconds. That is due to the fact that it is RWD and has more power than two Mclaren P1s. Outside, the F5 stays true to its concept’s looks, with a massive front air intake and quad exhausts at the back. Inside, through its Mclaren-esque doors, lies an interior that looks more VW Jetta than most powerful car ever sold. With leather, heated seats, and even 3 cupholders, the only thing that points out you are piloting a bullet train on 4 wheels is the steering wheel ripped Stright out of an Indy car.
Now, of course this American built, 1,800 horsepower hypercar is coming in with a fat price tag next to it, and that price tag is an eye-watering $2,100,000. That’s a lot of money for a lot of car.
I’d like an F-1 Rocketdyne Saturn 5 engine with 4 wheels, steering, brakes, roll cage and fuel tanks…take that Venom F5. 🙂
