Here’s A Compilation Of Non-Stop Finnish Rally Saves, Spins, Crashes, And Close Calls

The Fins have produced some awesome rally talent over the years and while rally racing has never really gained huge traction here in the USA there’s a huge following for it over there. The competition of course ranges from the lowest of the amateur ranks right up through the WRC level stuff. This video is a non-stop thrill ride of saves, spins, close calls, and wreckage from Finnish rally races. We dig it because most of the stuff shown is sportsman/amateur level looking and the cars are all pretty neat. From angry Volvos to Plymouths and other recognizable stuff bombing through the woods and snow, this is cool.

The most enlightening automotive experience I have ever had (without question) was my ride with Ken Block last year. You can watch this stuff on YouTube or even see it in person but until you are actually strapped into a full bore rally car it is all just stuff. Watching him operate the car and then paying attention to what the car itself was doing just blew every one of the brain cells in my skull and there are lots. The acceleration, braking, and lateral grip that the car exhibited on dirt in the middle of the woods was just crazy and the toughness of these cars cannot be overestimated either. They are all like tanks and soak up the abuse like no one’s business.

Lastly, these fans are reasonably educated it seems in that they are not on the outside of corners (death zone). They descend on stuck, crashed, or disabled cars in a horde instantly. We’re guessing that is helpful for the drivers but in some of these clips we’re wondering that happens when the next car comes around the corner and takes ’em down like bowling pins? This is a good watch…and crank the sound!
