Here’s Why You Never Stand At The Fence When Attending Your Local Circle Track

We always cringe a little when we see people hanging on the straightaway fence at a short track mainly because that’s a spot where things can go bad in a flash and collect up unwitting victims before they know what hits them. This video shows a good scenario where there is no one in the immediate impact area but if there were they’d likely be hurting pretty bad.

Racer Shawn Murray comes out of the fourth turn in his winged sprint car at Bubba Speedway in Ocala, Florida and he’s just carrying a hair too much speed. The problem is that the car keeps tracking out and tracking out and eventually it catches the wall with the rear tire and then the front. This series of impacts causes the thing to climb the wall and get right up to fence level in a hurry. The thing immediately spins around and ends up in a heap at the base of the flagman’s stand. Murray is OK but this is a quick and violent reminder about what can happen at the races.

Consider this a carnage twinged public service announcement!
