The relationship between racer and crew chief is an important one in every form of auto racing but it is also different in every form of auto racing. Stock car racers and road racers are in near constant contact with their crews while racing whereas competitors in drag racing do most of their talking with “the boss” in the pits between runs down the track. Some relationships are paternal in nature, some are almost brotherly, and some are downright weird. That’s where this video comes in. You are going to see how a driver and a crew chief work with each other during the heat of competition and we’re not sure how the crew chief keeps his head and keeps himself from punching his driver in the face. This guy is a peach and a half.
Ranging from funny to downright nasty, these radio transmissions are put to funny illustrations and then the crew chief gives his explanation of what the racer was trying to say. For instance, “There’s nothing I could do…” is racer speak and the crew chief hears, “I wasn’t trying hard enough.” See what we mean? This is hilarious and brilliant stuff. In fact, every form of racing in the world needs this video because they all have their own language and they’d all be as fun to watch.
Thanks to Craig for the tip!
That’s friggin’ hilarious
Seems like some of those guys might do a better driving job if they didn’t have someone to chat with.
