Holley LS Fest 2018: The Chevy High Noon Shootout – Winner Take All!

There is never a hurting for autocross action at LS Fest…the oval track at Beech Bend is usually open for business so long as it’s not time for drifting or the burnout contest. But leave it to the folks at Chevy High Performance to throw a little incentive for drivers to come out and really give the cones a good scare: the Chevy High Noon Shootout. Normally, what happens is that the folks at Chevy High Performance pick the eight fastest cars from the morning autocross and pit them against each other. Each car makes three runs, and the combined total is added up, lowest total is the winner. This year, there was a glitch in the matrix and due to a slight error, nine cars made the ranks. Hey, the more, the merrier!

With a $500 gift certificate from Holley on the line, the drivers were collected together and prepared for battle. Mike DuSold, Brian Finch, Darren Dternes, Chris Smith, JB Granger, Brian Johnson, Allan Schonmaker, and Robby Unser all appeared. And yes, that’s eight names…Unser, an overachiever, brought¬†two cars to play with! With only the winner coming away with the prize, competition was going to be fierce, and with a puddle right in the middle of a fast section of the track, things were going to be interesting. The winner of the deal was DuSold, whose monster Camaro’s four-figure power level proved to be advantageous at the right time!
