(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – I have some thresholds for what I will and will not take photos of. Wide wheels of unattractive diameter for the vehicle with tires mounted that the tread is significantly narrower than the rim…is a deal-breaker. It’s a personal preference. I like most anything, but there are those which I will not subject others to viewing. So if you wonder why you don’t see stuff like trucks with more lift than needed sporting 24×12 wheels and underglow lighting – there’s your reason.
Last gallery from the 2017 Hot Rod Hullabaloo. It was a good time and we stayed late. We did witness some stuff that shouldn’t have occurred. There are ‘no burnout’ signs posted everywhere. Not only is this to ensure safety it is also to keep a positive public image and not get Shelby’s Way in trouble with local officials. Blocking off a city street for an event like this is not a right so we need to tread lightly. There are times and places for some shenanigans, but this isn’t one of them. I removed the cars I personally saw do this from my photo coverage.
This group of photos is quite diverse and I’ll let the images speak for themselves. Near the end of the gallery is a shot of the pagent winners and ElCara photographers. There are a Teen Miss Hullabaloo, a Miss Hullabaloo, and a Ms Hullabaloo. They wandered around the grounds shooting photos used for promotion of the Shelby’s Way events and a really cool calendar. Pretty sure I heard all of them complaining about their feet hurting at some point.
Check this stuff out and if you can…..support.
