(Photos and words by Doug Gregory) – This group is dominated by 50s stuff and of that the Tri-5s are the most-plentiful, but it’s not limited to that era. With a few exceptions this stuff is not what you’d classify as small. Fact is when you take on a project involving these you can certainly expect wide expanses that need massaged then there’s the brightwork. Some models of this ilk are literally slathered in chrome and stainless-steel. Much care is needed in its removal and subsequent re-attaching once refurbished or replaced. Want to lessen the trim and mouldings…? Well there’s work in that too. I’ve never taken on a project from this era, but perhaps one day that’ll change. First I have to get back at my current crop of derelicts.
