We’re pretty sure that opinions will abound regarding this 1965 Impala General Lee. Why? Well just look at it! The Mopar guys may hate it because it is a Chevrolet take on one of the most iconic Dodges in history and the Chevrolet guys may hate it because they have never seen anything like this before. Beyond just a paint job, the builder of this car went pretty far to get the look right. The car has the push bar, it has the right wheels, it even has the correct color interior. It of course has the paint job, and the whip antenna is present and accounted for on the trunk lid. Hey, the cast of the show even signed this baby! How can it be wrong if Roscoe and the crew have given the proverbial thumbs up, right?
We have no idea what the engine is but we’re guessing that it is a small block. We also have no idea what the condition of the rest of the car is, meaning the frame, any rust, etc. Ditching the 01, the goofy huge push bar, and the painting the rear valance area orange and we’d drive it all day long. We can just envision the moment at a car show when a kid sees the car and the following happens:
Kid: DADDY! THE GENERAL LEE!
DAD: Oh son, that’s….oh my God.
Kid: Daddy, what’s wrong?
DAD: Just don’t look at it son, please keep walking, I’ll explain when you are older.
We sincerely appreciate the fact that someone had the gumption and the sense of humor to build this thing and drive it. Like we said, there are some elements of the car that look really great. The interior is flawless, bodywork seems to be right on, we just don’t know if we could put up with all the people asking “why” when it comes right down to it. Could you?

Lose the wheels & cheesy brush guard, buff off the tail panel,numbers & flag (it’s not the General) and you’d have a pretty decent looking Impala!
ARRRGGGGH – I just noticed the fake Charger, fake louvers on the doors…..I don’t think that will buff out!
