Like the Crown Vic wagon we showed you on the autocross earlier this week, putting dirt cars on asphalt is our kind of awesome. The cars normally spend their lives turning left only, so switching that up is one thing for the driver to contend with but the fact that the suspension is dialed in to making just that one directional turn really cranks up the crazy a few notches.
This video shows highlights from the 2009 running of the “RoadMods” race and it looks like a riot. The cars of course haul the mail and they also heave, slide, and pitch all over the course with their drivers sawing at the wheel the whole way. One of the things that road racing sometimes lacks is the feeling that the cars are totally on the edge. Obviously, they are, but with modern suspension and breaking technology, the cars look to be so in control at all times, the racing doesn’t have that exciting feel. While, this cures that, and in a hurry.

This is great ,To see these cars out of there norm ,tearing it up. I love watching the stadium trucks race on a closed road course .Like the Iroc series in reverse . This is a track owner using his head, asses will be in the seats
Memphis tried to do this back in the late 80’s at MMP’s road course. There was an open practice day where a tricked up ITC car ran faster than the dirt cars. Race never came off.
