Listen To This NASCAR V8 Get Dyno Pulled To 9,700 RPM Three Times In Under A Minute – Sweet Music!

It is always fun when a bunch of new dyno videos jump onto the internet and for this current blast we have to thank the people at DEPAC Dyno Systems. That company makes instrumentation and software for engine dynos to help make the testing process more fruitful for the operators and end users. They have dropped a series of videos showing their stuff being used in a variety of applications and the one we decided to highlight first was this one that shows a guy decking the handling on the dyno three times in under a minute’s time to bring what’s reported to be a NASCAR Dodge (must be an old clip) engine from 6,000-9,700 rpm each time. Obviously we know that these engines spend lots of time at high RPM and sustained high RPM but it still boggles out mind to hear one do it like this one does it over and over again in such a short span. The old joke about the kid asking the racer if his engine will rev to 9,000RPM and the guy responds, “Yeah, once!” does not apply here. These things are built tough and built to last over hours of this type of abuse.

DEPAC does not make the dynos themselves (as best we can tell) but concentrates on the data monitoring end and the data acquisition end of things. In looking at their website, it seems that their products and programs will work with all the different makes of dynos out there like Stuska, DTS, SuperFlow, and more. Their site claims that they have options for water and electric brake dynos to boot. We’re not smart enough to handle any of that stuff but pros in the industry like the guy running the deal in this video, people like those competed at engine masters last week, and shops like Westech speak the language that these guys do. We often show max effort pulls and stuff like this that is on the fringes of the performance realm, but the reality is that the engine dyno is a lot more than just a device for turning an engine to the moon or turning and engine hard to see the peak hp it can make. In having conversations with NHRA pro stock engine builders out on the tour this year, it became apparent that they view the dyno as an entire system rather than a simple tool. Interesting stuff for sure.

Now, onto the mechanical symphony that is this stock car engine turning nearly 10,000 RPM three times in under one minute!
