A Mercedes With ‘Roid Rage: The Mercedes GT37e May Be Heavy But Boy Is It Going To Fly!

A Mercedes With ‘Roid Rage: The Mercedes GT37e May Be Heavy But Boy Is It Going To Fly!

(By Tom Lohnes) – With BMW’s recent announcement of the M5 CS which is a normal M5 turned up to about 15, Mercedes-Benz has to step in with a rival and they’re taking a way different approach.

Called the GT73e the new AMG trim will be a hybrid which means putting more than 500 pounds worth of motor and battery into the already heavy GT63S. The M5 CS went on a carbon diet and gained some ponies in the process and the GT73e will eat until it is full and then take a lot of steroids.

What we mean by that is people have spied dyno numbers for the GT73e and the heavy thing is producing 768 horsepower… at the wheels. This may be the first vehicle with four doors to eclipse the insane numbers of the Dodge Hellcat family. Factoring in the weight, the GT73e should hit 60 in around three seconds, do the quarter in around 11, and of course, lap the Nürburgring in about seven minutes, all very impressive numbers for such a porker.

The normal gas-only GT63S can easily top $220,000 with options, so it’s not that hard of a guess this very special, very big, very powerful vehicle will be that and more.
