(Photos by David Whealon) – There’s something about sports car racing that we dig. The whole scene is pretty awesome and it all starts with the equipment. In this case we’re looking at cars running in the Michelin GT Challenge series and they were competing at the beautiful Virginia International Raceway. Our own David Whealon was the man on the scene making these pretty pictures and he managed to spread the love between all the different cars from Fords to Ferraris, Porsches, Mercedes, and Corvettes just to name a few.
No, there wasn’t any nitromethane to be snorted at this race but there was some of the highest technology in the world of racing employed. These guys do things the right way and the cars competing at VIR were all world class. We love all different types of racing around here and while we skew heavy on the drag racing side, everyone at BS has spent time at the road course over the years as either a racer, a journalist, or a spectator. Looking at these images, any one of those would have been a good option at VIR when Whealon was there.
