Ride On Board Various Cars At The Monaco Historic Grand Prix – THIS Is Cool!

Going vintage sports car racing is not really a budget proposition. Compared to say, running a modern F1 team it is cheap but when you factor in the cost of the car, the cost of a crew, all the maintenance, etc, it is largely a rich man’s game. Now, add into that the fact that there’s a European circuit for these cars that includes places like FREAKING MONACO to race at and now you see where our head is. Don’t get us wrong, given the skill, budget, and wherewithal to do what these guys are doing, we’d be right there with them. Being that we are lacking virtually all of the major elements needed to actually throw down in Monaco for anything but a camper van, we’ll be watching from the comfort of our lap tops, apparently.

Thankfully there’s video these days and because of that we can experience these events like no other freeloaders in history could have.

In this particular case we are at the Monaco Historic Grand Prix during the practice day for the event and because of that we get to “sit in” multiple sports cars and open wheel Formula Cars as they attack the same sinuous and tight course that the Formula One guys race on, tunnel and all. We may have replayed the tunnel portion of this video 100 times just to listen to the noise in that concrete tube. Oh lordy is it something else!

You get to pick your favorite make and vintage of racer here, which is cool. You’ll see just how hands-on those old cars were. You will also see that while this is historic racing, it is still RACING and even in practice, dudes were getting with the program.

Press play below to grab a seat on the shoulder of multiple drivers in multiple cars!
