(Photos by Charles Wickam) – We’re back with a second and final installment of photos from Charles Wickam’s recent visit to Battleground Speedway in Texas. Other than having the greatest race track name ever, Battleground is home to some seriously intense racing. As you’ll see in Charles’s photos below it was non-stop action in every class when the green flag flew. For those of you that have never attended a dirt track race under the lights on a Saturday night, you have to find your local track and visit. Even if you aren’t a dedicated stock car racing fan, you’ll be rewarded with an experience that you’ll never forget. From the sounds of all the screaming small blocks to the sight of seeing racers bash off of one another through the turns, it is really, really fun racing to watch.
Charles captured several sequences in this gallery of wrecks and amazing saves. Dig the two photos below as teasers. Neither of those guys actually hit anything or got hit despite the fact that they were heading in the exact wrong direction on the track with traffic closing in! That would be the “thrills” part of the “thrills, chills, and spills” lots of tracks advertise. There are spills and chills in this gallery as well. Charles covered all the bases with his photos.
