More IMSA SportsCar Championship Action From Virginia International Raceway

(Photos by David Whealon) – We’re back with more great photos from David Whealon and his adventure to the IMSA SportsCar Championship race that was held at Virginia International Raceway a little while back. While we tend to focus on stuff that goes really fast in a straight line around here, we also appreciate the effort, talent, and the determination that these road racing teams have. People sometimes get hung up on the fact that these guys are racing big dollar cars (for the most part) but the reality is that the guys wrenching on them and getting them setup have the same mindset that someone working on a dragster, a stock car, a sprint car, or a monster truck have. They all want to send a car onto the track that will stomp everyone that gets in its way.

David’s photos from this event are awesome and they capture the speed and excitement of the series and the beautiful place that VIR is. The one thing that the road racing guys have a lock on, by and large, is beautiful tracks. Sure there are some scenic strips and a few really neat stock car tracks but these guys places that look like national parks with asphalt in them. That’s a win for sure.
