Morning Symphony: Running No Matter What Happens In A 900+ Horsepower Ford RS200

Morning Symphony: Running No Matter What Happens In A 900+ Horsepower Ford RS200

Some days, it just isn’t your day. You can have all the training, all the preparation, and all of the tools at your disposal and you’ll still figure out a new and creative method of lousing things up. It’s just fate working against you, but it still sucks. What do you do? Some will just pack it in and hit the showers before heading back to the house. Others will dig down and attempt to persevere no matter how against the odds things appear to be. Case in point is Liam Doran and his run at the Retro Rides Gathering. It must be said that Doran’s name in racing is pretty buried in mud…after a drunken altercation at Gatebil in Norway, the rallycross driver had his racing license suspended by the Motor Sports Association (the UK motorsports governing body). The guy can drive, though, and the Ford RS200 he’s using is a monster, a 920 horsepower unit that looks ready to get down anywhere at any time. Should be good, right? He’d made a few runs earlier in the day, but this run it appears that Doran went to 101% attack and on the first corner, clipped the bodywork on an apex, cutting the right-front tire and breaking the “hood” area of the car badly enough that the wind tears it off. Normally, that’s when you pull off to the side of the course, call it a day, and collect the pieces. Doran, instead, makes the run. Was it worth it? Who’s to say. What we get out of it is one highly pissed-off rally rocket turned hillclimb monster doing what it does best. Doran might have a bad reputation in the motorsports world, but when the temper is peaking, that’s when the foot hits the floor.

  1. Chevy Hatin' Mad Geordie

920 HP out of a Cosworth YBT?

I’d like to know how that was achieved as the most they made in the past was about 600. Also thanks for the shot of the rear end without the engine cover as i always wondered what was under the roof scoop and that is really the best place to put that monster intercooler.
