Morning Symphony: The Mental Peugeot 205 Of Vincent Foucart – 2.0L V-16?!

In the world of automobiles, sixteen cylinders is pretty much the maximum used in any kind of regularity for one engine block, and even then, they are rare. You have the Cadillac V-16, a 452 or 431ci unit that was built during the 1930s, and the 13.6L LS-based 2003 example that powered the Cadillac Sixteen concept car. Marmon’s 491ci sixteen was only built for three years, and even BMW messed around with a 550ci version the late 1980s. Notice: large displacements, regardless of whether it is a “modern” V-16 or not. But here’s a solid question: what if cylinder bore and stroke wasn’t a priority? That’s when you get a psychotic little ripsaw like Vincent Foucart’s Peugeot 205. The rally machine has had several engines along the way, most recently a 20B rotary, but at one point the Peugeot was sporting a 2.oL V-16 that was composed of four de-stroked Honda CBR600 engines mated together into one block. It sounded like the starting line at a MotoGP event and pushed out a very respectable 437 horsepower through an all-wheel-drive system and a six-speed sequential box. And as for noise? Well, if you’ve ever looked at someone whipping around a remote-controlled car and have thought to yourself, “That sounds amazing! I wonder what it would be like scaled-up to real car proportions…”, here you go!

    Awesome!

I predict that his next engine will be a V20 composed of four stroke Honda 50cc motors with six turbochargers installed that will produce a sound so loud that it will cause earthquakes!

I had never seen that. That’s cool as hell! Reminds me of the RC166 a bit (a 250cc I-6 motorcycle).
