(By Tom Lohnes)- Do you ever yearn to take your SUV to the racetrack? Is your house also made of solid gold? Well, Porsche has the car for you-the Cayenne Coupe Turbo GT.
That’s definitely a name, but besides that what changes? Well, a lot of things. First off, the suspension has been tweaked by the same man who designs Porsche’s GT2 and GT3 cars, so we know it’ll handle good. Second, a new crankshaft is joined by new pistons, connecting rods, and a new timing chain to boost power up to a beastly 631. All of that power goes through an 8-speed automatic to get this 4,900-lb beast to 60 in a claimed 3.1 seconds, but Porsche usually severely overestimates their times so we’ll see what the real number is.
Now, how much does it cost? Well, this “coupe”-only SUV starts at the top of the Cayenne lineup at a hair over $182,000, yikes. But this SUV currently holds the Nürburgring record for fastest crossover, so I think the driving manners will make up for that price. These are limited-production, but we don’t exactly know just how limited yet.
If you are willing to drop $182,000 on a crossover, go for the best. Porsche tends to not let us down with their performance cars, so hopefully that’s the case here.
The header says “coupe”. This has four doors. What am I not connecting?
