There is nothing like hearing someone who is really good at something describe how to do it…as they do it. In this video we get the road racing version of just that as Jim Pace laps Daytona in a Shelby Daytona coupe replica. He is running at the Classic Daytona 24 event and it is late at night as he is running the car. Jim welcomes us with a description of the car and a bit of flare as he tells us the machine is powered by a 289ci small block and four Weber carbs.
We love listening to him talk about every corner, where he is looking and how he is setting up for it. Looking at the different parts of the track and the approach to all of them leads us to believe that road racing has to be exhausting on this level. Not only do you need the endurance to run for hours on end, you need the mental acuity to keep your focus on each and every corner, during each and every pass, etc.
We have shown you in-car videos before but never one with a narrator like this! We love it.
