This is a cool video for a couple of reasons. The first is that we get to ride with John Hennessey in the passenger seat with Kimi Raikkonen hauling complete and total ass in a late model Ferrari around the road course at Daytona International Speedway. The second is that Raikkonen is famously short on words and Hennessey appears to be doing a Facebook Live video of the experience and is trying to be chatty and excited about the whole thing. He’s asking Kimi questions, getting no response, and that does not seem to slow him down at all.
We’re guessing that Kimi was there for Shell and was giving these rides all day long so the famously curt driver was likely damned near mute by the time he got to John Hennessey. The one thing that he does not have a problem with is beating the stuffing out of the Ferrari which is an amazing car that seems to even make the experienced Hennessey squeal with semi-frightened delight along the way.
The bottom line is that while the “conversation” is hilariously uncomfortable, watching Kimi Raikkonen drive a car to its limits is amazing. He is so focused, loose, and professional that we can only sit and admire his abilities. You don’t luck yourself into F1 championships!
