This Rollout Video For The Craftsman Tools Made To Race Comet Project Is Flipping Awesome (And Stars Our Pals)

As if Kevin, Chad and the crew at Hot Rod Chassis and Cycle weren’t already cranking hard enough on cars like the Whistling Death Chevelle and the Violent Valiant, they have now been tapped by Craftsman Tools to build a Mercury Comet project for the company to display at the 2014 SEMA show. The introductory video for the project is below and frankly, it is not what you’re expecting. This is not some happy go lucky look at the car and a pile of parts that will be used to transform it. Nope, it is much deeper than that and while we see the car, the video does a pretty good job of talking about what things are like in the world today and why things like old cars may be more important than they actually seem.

As excited as we are to see this car get transformed (and we were privy to a sneak peek look at the renderings) we’re more excited to know that there will be a high quality video series like this to go along with it. With beautiful imagery and some very nice editing, this little video is one of the finer things you will see on the computer this week and it is only Tuesday!

We’re sure that Kevin, Chad, and others will talk about the theme to this build as they get deeper into it, but take this opening shot as your introduction to the little Comet and the ethos that’s behind it. This is really, really neat and we’re interested in your opinions on the video and the message. Do you agree? Disagree? Why?

Drive through a low income town and you’ll see a lot of high end cars because of easy credit. When they break they are big money to fix. Add it up with fuel and insurance and lots of folks are paying too much for a necessary car, a big reason why we’re a country of poor people to my mind.
Imagine if cars were affordable and fixable today like they were up to the 70’s. We’d be better off I’m sure, like we were then.
Advertising and Wall Street hasn’t helped our country lately.

It’s unfortunate the sentiments in the video aren’t reflected in the tools Craftsman sells today. Craftsman used to be a brand you could be proud to own. Not so much anymore.

I agree with the premise of this piece but when I go to Sears and see Craftsman tools made in China, it compromises the message. Go to Lowes or Sears or Home Depot or Walmart or anywhere else you go, you see the same thing….
    Made in China.
