You probably would recognize it better if it was called a Geo Metro, but it’s a Suzuki Swift. Or a Suzuki Cultus. Or whatever…you know what kind of car it is, they were sold all over the world. They were small, frugal little hatchbacks that could easily compete with the Toyota Prius for fuel efficiency. Small, nimble little cars that sipped fuel and got you where you needed to go…not exactly showy, but noble in their own right and only now starting to earn any kind of respect…right? Eh, let’s go with that.
This thing, on the other hand…this is a properly pissed off little machine! Whatever is motivating the little Suzuki is actually hooked up to a factory transaxle, which must be an absolute joy to shift when you’re trying to flat-foot it up a hillclimb. We’re pretty certain that there is no way on a cold, snowy day in Hell that this little car is hitting 42 MPG, but chances are good that if it was, the only way we’d write about it is if somebody launched one off the deck of an aircraft carrier like a football with taillights. But this little blue-and-orange screamer is awesome, carving up corners like a scalpel. More of this in small, fuel efficient cars would make the world a better place.
this peaked my interest so i did a little digging. its powered by a 1396cc engine, more than likely its a built up gti 1.3l twin cam engine. car weighs 660kg, or around 1450lbs.
not sure if you got the swift gti in the states, we had them in canada and they actually ripped around pretty good. 1750 lbs curb weight with 100hp. not fast, but not terrible for the early 90s
