2018 Northeast Indoor Nationals Photo Coverage: Pro Street and Loads More!

2018 Northeast Indoor Nationals Photo Coverage: Pro Street and Loads More!

(Words and photos by Joe Grippo) – I told you we had a bunch more coverage coming your way from the East Coast Indoor Nationals, from Timonium, Maryland! This gallery is filled like a Pro Street wheel tub with, well, all manner of fat tired Pro Streeters! And race cars, lots of race cars. Big engines, big tires, killer paint and roll cages…these are a few of my favorite things. I just wish we could have hung around for the drive-out on Sunday night to see and hear these beasts in motion. Maybe next year.

Pro Street is not dead. At least here in the north east, anyway. Check out my buddy Jef Fern’s Blu Bomber ’70 Camaro for example. Currently a twin turbo carbureted small block Chevy that is painted and polished to near perfection resides under the custom hood. The tan accents carry from under hood to the amazing Bux Customs interior that is done in leather and suede playing off the blue cage like the ocean hitting the beach. Jef has owned this Camaro for over 35 years and has redone it several times but the latest iteration is jaw dropping. Walking the show revealed many other tubbed Camaros, Chevy II’s, Vegas and more. Ever see a small block, powered flip-top Fiat 500 with a tunnel ram? No? Click the link below.

What do you do with your race car during the winter? You hit the show circuit, of course! Small tired, big tired, paddle tired racers of all kinds were shined up and on display. What’s that? Yes, paddle tired. Even a mud racer can be in a car show. A pair of Yenko styled ’69 Camaros made up a cool York US30 drag strip diorama, featuring some static wheels up action. FYI – Saturday night was judging time at the show, so that is why all the doors and hoods are open, bad for photos but good for the judges.

We are not done yet with this deal; more pics are coming….
