When You Show Up To An Open Track Day In A Retired F1 Car You Look Like A Total Boss – Wow This Thing Is Fast!

The long and short of the story is laid out up there in the title but essentially a dude with a retired F1 car showed up to an open track day and stuck a couple of cameras on the car. Like showing up to a test and tune day at the drag strip with a modern nitro funny car, the F1 machine ate everything else up like it was tied to a tree. It is really fun to watch this thing work in odd company because you normally only see cars like this against like creatures. In this environment you get a sense for how well these cars stop, how hard they come off the corners, and how vastly superior, in every way they are to whatever else is on the track. I am sure that there were people hating on the guy for showing up with this car, but anyone with a brain was probably pumped to be on the track with it. We would be. How often can you get blown off by a frigging F1 car in your life, right?

The car is powered by a 3.5L V10 that makes about 700hp and revs well north of 10,000 RPM. This is a car from the time when F1 machines did not sound like UPS trucks. It was a magical era known as “a few years back”. Jeez.

The car itself is an Arrows A22 model which we understand wasn’t all that great an F1 car in comparison to others of the same vintage but in the hands of a guy who is a sportsman style racer just going out and having a blast? He may have just as well bought his own space shuttle. We have no idea about what kind of crew it takes to run one of these how much it cost to buy or how you even maintain it, but for a brief shining moment, this guy looked and felt like Michael Schumacher and just having control of the sounds that this car emits may be worth the astronomical price of admission!
