So How Many Hub Caps Did The Bullit Charger Lose During The Chase? We’ve Got The Answer

(Infographic credit: BestRide.com) – The Bullit Charger, one of the most iconic movie cars of the 20th century shed hubcaps like our own McTaggart sheds dandruff. The near 11-minute chase scene that pitted the menacing black Charger against the green, 390 powered Mustang fastback that Steve McQueen drove still stands as one of the greatest in movie history. It is filled with drama, great driving, and some pretty nasty ‘splosions at the end. That being said, the chase has been so relentlessly analyzed over the years there are some funny points as well. The fact that they pass the same VW like elevendy times and the fact that the Charger rejects hubcaps like a bad organ are just two.

Because he must have had a night off of book club or perhaps his Star Wars footie pajamas were in the wash, Fitzgerald apparently watched Bullit and did so multiple times to discern exactly how many hubcaps the Charger loses in the chase. Rather than just write down a number, he called in the heavy artistic guns and the awesome infographic below was created. We think it is pretty slick and we think that you should check it out and then hit the link below to visit BestRide.com!

I counted seven, I see I was incorrect.
Now, when Dirty Harry had the bank robber on the ground with the pistol pointed at him, did he fire six shots or only five? We know the pistol went “click” when he pulled the trigger. We also know Clint Eastwood didn’t follow the script, he ad libbed a bit.

The car chase was one of the greatest ever filmed without a bunch of phony special effects and I remember seeing it on the big screen. But in watching the movie again I noticed many of the scenes were at the same intersection but filmed from different angles.
