Spectator Drags Greatness: Two Cool Trucks Get After It And Have A VERY Close Call At Beech Ridge Speedway In Maine

Boy things sure look a little hairy in the image above, eh? One driver appears to be heading for the other one and the dude who looks like he’s about to get smacked is looking right at the guy headed into his side! Thankfully the trucks do no hit and the lowered Ford prevents that from happening with some handy maneuvering. He also manages to keep himself off the wall by remembering one of the most basic tenants of vehicle control which is that a skidding tire will not help you steer. Had he been on the brakes too long he would have eaten wall, but we’re getting ahead of ourselves.

The short bed Ford truck which is painted in a flat blue color is a really awesome piece. The old International cabbed rig is cool too but the little Ford really has our attention the whole time. The guy is clearly a wheelman and the truck is clearly setup to turn. There is little to no body roll, he has great control of it for the whole race and he even manages to put on a great show after the close call with his competitor.

Does anyone in Maine know this guy? What’s the combo under the hood? Judging by the way it lays tracks out of the hole, it has some gusto! Things get really interesting on the back straight where our hero in the blue truck finally has it hooked and rolling. He makes up a ton of time on the open wheel International heading into turn three but he was definitely hot coming into that corner. Carrying a lot of speed around and trying to make a last ditch effort onto the home straight, he really pours on the coals and puts his driving skills to the test.

That blue truck is flipping sweet. Agree? These spectator drags videos from all over the place are the best thing about summer.
