Subaru Has Slow Sales In Europe But Stateside Things Are Looking Bright – The Balance Of Global Automakers

(By Tom Lohnes) – After selling a disappointing 951 cars in the UK last year, Subaru is determined to stay in the game in Europe, just with apparently accepted smaller sales numbers.

Subaru recently announced that the next-gen BRZ sports car wouldn’t reach Europe, but the new WRX and STI will be there for the 2022 model year. Subaru is one of the only companies to have the same models in Europe and in America, with only the Outback and Ascent being exclusive to America. Their best-selling model worldwide is still the Impreza, as it has been for the past 20 years. Somehow, Mitsubishi moved more cars across the pond than Subaru did last year, how they did that is beyond me.

So, what does that mean for the faithful flat-four manufacturer? Well, Subaru is pushing great sales in Japan and America, with the Crosstrek and Outback being the bestsellers stateside. Prices range from the base Impreza at $18,795 to the crazy WRX STI S209 at $63,970. All of which except the part-Toyota BRZ offer AWD and almost all come with standard manual transmissions.

Listen if you’re reading this in the UK consider a Subaru, they need your help and that new STi looks awesome.
