The Aston Martin DBX is one of the few SUVs from high-end marques that actually deserves the badge. Although having mostly Mercedes-Benz powertrain components, Aston really took it upon themselves to make as much of a British luxury vehicle out of a German as they could. If there is one thing they could improve on though, it could be performance. 541 horsepower is a lot, but it definitely does not stand out in a field of vehicles in the 600 horsepower range. What did they do to remedy that? See for yourself.
Very confusingly named the DBX707, this fast DBX makes 697 horsepower out of a modified 4.0-liter boosted AMG V8. It definitely isn’t as cool as the V12 that was rumored to be in there, but a V8 makes more sense in the name of performance. Speaking of performance, the DBX707 puts down some impressive numbers. With a claimed 0-60 time of 3.1 seconds, it is very likely this hopped up DBX will reach the magic number in under 3. Speaking of speed, the faster DBX tops out at 193 miles per hour, a very strong number for an SUV.
Even though it is extremely fast, the DBX707 is still a luxury vehicle, so of course there will be upgrades inside the cabin. With suede and leather all over, an updated infotainment system and gauge cluster design, and top-notch build quality, the 707 doesn’t really differ much from the standard DBX. But, it does get a nice touch exclusive to the 707, soft-close doors.
Of course, the DXB707 is not for the average crowd. Starting at $232,000, this Aston definitely does not come cheap. But, for the rather absurd price, the 707 makes a strong name for itself in terms of performance. Look out, it may just go after the title for fastest SUV around the Nürburgring.
