Flagship: The Upcoming Genesis G90 Continues To Impress With Interior, Styling, and Power Released

(By Tom Lohnes) – A few weeks ago, Genesis gave us a sneak peek at the exterior design of their new flagship G90 sedan, and it is safe to say we were pretty shocked at how this Hyundai-derived luxury brand could understand and adapt to a market so well. Just a few hours ago, they released some more specs, along with some interior photos, and we are still blown away.

First off, let’s talk interior, because I think Genesis struck a happy medium here. With a more traditional luxury design like the BMW 7-series, the G90 is very nice and clean looking inside, exactly how a luxury car should. But there is some crazy tech, just like the new Mercedes-Benz S-class. How much crazy tech? Well, we don’t know yet. But a new 3D gauge cluster is there, along with what appears to be a refreshed infotainment suite. Genesis continues their trend of odd steering wheels, although this one is far better on the eyes than the GV80’s single-spoke unit. In the back, the long-wheelbase G90 is pure luxury, with a 4-seat configuration, electrically adjusted massaging seats, and all of the other things that make true luxobarge.

So, the interior is nice, but what about all the other stuff? Well, the new G90 comes standard with air suspension, which is always nice, and the base short wheelbase model comes with a 375-hp twin turbocharged V6, plenty adequate for cruising duties. But, if you get the larger model, you get an electronic supercharger on the same engine, effectively making it twincharged. Fun! Power figures haven’t been announced yet, but expect a number north of 450.

The new G90 is still a few months away from a full debut, but expect a huge step up from the old model. Prices should start around $70,000, but there should be a 6-figure pricetag on the LWB trim. Deserving?
