Thierry Neuville Sets A New Jump Record At Rally Sweden: Over 144 Feet Off Of Colin’s Crest!

This year’s Rally Sweden was filled with a lot of snow-filled failure, but one shining star flew high above the rest, literally: Thierry Neuville launched his Hyundai i20 44 meters (144.3 feet) off of “Colin’s Crest”. The Belgian driver is the sixth driver to make the list, which uses the long jump on the Vargåsen stage named after Colin McRae. Neuville put eight meters on the last record holder, Finnish driver Juho Hänninen, eleven meters on his own 2013 record, and has seven meters on the next-longest jump, a 37-meter flight completed by both Norwegian Marius Aasen in 2010 and Ken Block in 2011.

High speeds through the forest filled with snowbanks and all sorts of obstacles meant to screw up your day…that’s what makes rally racing so, so good.
