If we can pick the telegraphed punches that will be thrown at this killer 1964 Olds Cutlass F85 it’ll be that the car has too many doors, that it has an automatic transmission, and that it has the wrong engine. Spoiler alert, this thing does have an LS motor swapped into it and a modern transmission as well. The boo birds will harp on the engine immediately and we get it. Olds fans will argue that anything would be better than the engine that is in it now. The arguments in the LS engine’s favor are many from the ease of making power, the ease of making the swap, the modern fuel injection, and all of the other stuff that goes along with it. Yes, a thumping, torque monster 455 would be awesome here but for the record it wouldn’t slow us down on the ownership front at all. Moving past the engine let’s look at the rest of the car.
The exterior? Flipping awesome. We think that white cars are great and the crisply styled F85 with its minimal chrome and straightforward looks really lends itself to this bright shade of white. The steel wheels and dog dish caps are always a win in our book, and it looks to us that the rear wheels have been fattened up a little bit to hang onto more rubber. Do we care that it is a four door? Hell no, it looks boss and we’d have plenty of room for the kiddos or some pals in the back. Not that the coupes don’t but ingress and egress is easier with four points of entry.
The interior is absolutely awesome. Completely factory, the tan color, bench front seat, absolutely perfect dash, and comfy looking rear seat hit all the right marks with us. This thing could cruise all the miles, sip fuel, and probably hurt some feelings when the accelerator hits the floor.
Do want.

Some cars look good in 2 door and 4 door configuration. This is one of them! Only change for my taste is A/C (I’m not young anymore) and manual transmission.
My kinda engine swap. Want so bad.
I’ve been looking for a 68-69 culass/442 unrestored but do find this worth considering. I live in Florida so checking it out to see if it’s a clunker under shiny paint isn’t really a possibility, so my question, is there anybody that lives in that area who would like to check it out anyway be willing to touch it, maybe drive it as this seller does have one very bad comment if feedback section.
awesome work, but it’s a 4 door. You know that car is going to end up as parts for another car, right? What will happen is the guy will sell it once, then the next guy owns/drives it for awhile and then tries to sell it. No one wants 4 doors, he can’t even get the one-other-guy-who-tolerates-four-doors to bite. So he lowers the price, and lowers the price, finally, in desperation he trades it in on his wife’s new minivan. They auction it and it goes to a builder who says “cool, I needed the running gear for my 65 Chevelle”
Not perfect, stop encouraging people to use Oldsmobiles as parts for Chevelles. Bad Brian.
All it needs is a tissue dispenser and a compass stuck to the windshield.
I know you cannot tell all from photos, but it looks like a quality build. Of course I would never buy from a distance without seeing with my own eyes, but yeah, four doors would not stop me or millions of others. I don’t agree that it gets traded in on a minivan, but I hope I’m there if it happens. I will then trade another minivan for it!
Why are four doors on cars not cool, but on a pickup truck they are? It’s not a four door F85, its a Crew Cab F85.
Anyone who would get this and use it as a parts car should face a punishment put forth by Mr. Wee.
Pure awesomeness! I love the utilitarian vibe. If I were building it, AC and a T56 would have been part of the equation. I hope it goes to a good home. I doubt it will be parted, LSs are plentiful…any gear head worth his salt would not pull this car apart…at least I hope not! Long live the sleeper land yatch.
If semi-contemporary Panther-bodied FoMoCo’s and full-framed Impalas are acceptable, why not this F-85?
‘Looks like it would be a primo DD one could park anywhere and not be worried.
Those that can part out cars like this, isnt car enthusiasts!!
I’d rock that in a minute. Needs some A/C though. Would make a sweet Daily Driver in a good climate.
No thanks! I want a 1964 Olds F85, stock engine, 4 speed on the floor manual transmission, tach., mac and cruise control added, baby moons, and black wheels. The color, Saddle Tan on bottom, White on top, Saddle Tan interior, and 2 door.
