Bangshifter Dan Labarowski sent us the link to this eBay ad that features a 1967 Shelby GT500E wire sculpture. The car was built by a wire artist named Conti back in 2014 as part of the 50th celebration of the Ford Mustang. It has functional doors, hood, trunk lid, etc. There’s a “full” interior and the thing even has an “engine” in it as well. Amazingly the car was built in only seven months from scratch. If that’s not totally wild, we don’t know what is!
We agree with one of the statements in the ad which suggests that this “car” would be the perfect addition to any really serious car collection or even as part of a museum type of situation as well. The more you look at the car the more than you appreciate the artistry. We have never seen anything else like this, especially at 1:1 scale. Of course we have seen neat miniature projects made out of wire, but something that is life sized? Not until we laid eyes on this.
Just think about how much time is into creating the radiator itself?!
This could actually be put on the road with a functioning drive train – but I’d put in some functioning seats as those wire ones would be like sitting on a cheese grater…….
