This sliding, airborne, on-fire Holden Ute is the most Australian thing to ever happen in racing

(By Eric Rood) – There’s really very little that needs to be said here, but here’s a brief bit of setup: The V8 Ute Series raced in Adelaide this weekend in support of the V8 Supercars’ season-opening Clipsal 500. During the weekend’s second Utes race, veteran racer and NASCAR Australia (Yes, that was really a thing) champion Kim “The Assassin” Jane suddenly found his Holden Ute on fire headed down the main straight. The Ute’s engine was dropping oil and Jane skidded all the way down the straight’s last 300 feet into the Senna chicane, where he went airborne over the curbing and sideways into the gravel, extinguishing the flame.

It’s clearly the most Australian thing that has ever happened in racing.
