Travis Pastrana has been driving race cars for a while now and while he attempted to run NASCAR stuff with little success, he is a proven commodity in rally style racing. His experience and skill with that type of competition was on full display this week as he attacked the Mt. Washington Hillclimb in a 600hp race prepared Subaru. In this video you are going to watch Travis Pastrana destroy the record at the Mt. Washington Hillclimb by 25 seconds. Let’s just say that it wasn’t exactly soft either!

Pastrana covered 7.6 miles of winding, sometimes harrowing mountain road in five minutes and forty four seconds. While the Pikes peak race dominates the “mountain” races in the USA the Mt. Washington hillclimb is a bad ass run. It has an on again and off again history over the years but the one thing that it has had and hopefully always will, like Pikes Peak, is dirt. There’s asphalt roads as well but the dirt is where the men are separated from the boys and the good drivers are separated from the guys who are going to kill themselves.

There’s one stretch in this video that had us puckered up tight. Skittering along at full throttle we’re pretty sure Pastrana uses some rocks that are a literal cliff-face to properly rip through tight section of road. He does not lift. You will see it from outside the car and inside it. Totally wild.

There’s one pretty amazing shot at the start of the video where Pastrana comes ripping past the camera on a dirt road and then the camera pulls back to display the majesty of the mountain. Us New Englanders are pretty proud of our heritage and our history. The Mt. Washington Auto Road is one of the most fun destinations to visit. Every person that lives around here has done it a time or two but no one has ever done it as quickly as Travis Pastrana.
