(Words by Jason Mazzotta) – Soccer is not exactly the most popular sport in American culture, but when you add cars to the mix everyone is immediately interested, as is the case with this soccer match that broke out during a demolition derby. One of the events at the Waseca Fair in Waseca, Minnesota is the three on three soccer match between the blue cars and the black cars. The goal is simple; get the huge soccer ball across the line of the opponents and let the Bobcat (referee) move the ball back to midfield, and do it again.

The whole event is a great time for both the drivers and fans with plenty of action and laughs. The drivers are able to show off both their athletic and driving skills, by positioning the cars in such a way to help the ball move in the direction they want. Some of the drivers even accelerate in reverse to block off an opposing car just as a defender would in an actual soccer game. The fans pick a side and cheer for them as if it were the home team up against the visiting rivals, and come to their feet when the ball gets down to the goal line.
