Video: Screaming V8s From Vintage Road Race Corvettes, Can Am Cars, and Other Classes At Vintage Road Racing Events In Europe

This cool video is a couple of seasons old, but you’ll dig it. Posted by Tachyon Motorsport which is a European based vintage racing team, it features the awesome sounds of the group’s Grand Sport Corvettes, big block McLaren Can Am car and even a vintage TVR with a small bore V8. We’re talking about tracks like Monza and others that have been in the international racing spotlight for decades since the rise of true race track grand prix racing in Europe. The team cars are really cool and they run like hell. When you hear the aluminum big block in the Can Am car hauling the mail down the front straight at one point, you’ll get shivers. Those were the craziest road racing cars ever, with their space aged chassis and big cubic inch American engines (along with the smaller displacement turbo engines from Porsche) the Can Am cars drew the greatest racers in the world like moths to a flame.

The Corvette portion of the team seems to be made up of three cars which are a yellow Stingray, and both a blue and a white Grand Sport Stingray. All three sound good but the blue car seems to bellow a little harder than the rest. There are other videos of these guys chewing up other small displacement cars at tracks, but this video concentrates mainly on the awesome sounds that the cars make when idling, pulling out, and hauling ass on these courses You’ll also hear them being tuned and prepared for different events. There’s something really cool about hearing a healthy V8 working a road course. As you’ll see the cars all draw big crowds when sitting still as the majority of the competition doesn’t sound anywhere near as good!
