There are few things more fun to watch than a legit slice and dice road racing battle. If you take that action and add in some insanely valuable and iconic cars you have an even better time! Last weekend was the Goodwood Revival Meeting where some of the most awesome historic racing cars from around the world gathered and raced their brains out at Silverstone Circuit in England. This is not parade lap stuff, this is where the cars of yesteryear get driven like they are brand new and competing for global glory. Case in point is the video below.
You are going to see an E-Type Jag battling an Aston Martin DB4 GT for position on the course and it is great. The cars and drivers seem to be evenly matched across the board and while the Jag is leading, the Aston Martin is right there and in some cases gaining steam. In a move that the Aston driver’s wallet will regret, the driver dives way deep into a corner before stabbing the brakes. He nearly nails the Jag but does the right thing by lifting off the brakes to avoid a wreck. The bad news is that he is fast approaching a sharp right hander and with all the momentum he has, things look bleak.
While the damage done to the car is likely huge, six-figure money to repair, it beats wading up the whole car. Hey, he drove the thing out of there, right? We give these guys all the credit in the world for beating on their stuff this hard. It is great to watch!
Unlimited funds and limited intelligence.
They were meant to be driven and driven hard. Kudos to those folks who do just that. 2.5 mil to have something sitting in a show room is a waste. Besides – these owners have the resources to fix and repair.
Exactly. Cars that valuable will never be written off.
I love it when cars get used what they were built for.
Although you can’t buy talent…
Agree, driven hard but not stupidly. He wanted around that Jag in the worst way and drove WAY over his ability.
Rubbin is racin
I don’t think that damage will be too expensive to repair, he got lucky there.
I don’t think driver error was too extreme, he is obviously trying for the lead and that involves risk. He did good by avoiding the Jag.
So funny how everyone jumps on the ‘Ran out of ability’ and ‘Money, No Talent’ train so quickly!
In case you’d all forgotten, these guys are mere mortal human’s that make mistakes occasionally, at which point people go “Well daaeeem, that guy can’t drive for sh*t”..
They were racing at Goodwood in Sussex, NOT Silverstone, which is in Northamptonshire, nearly one hundred miles away. And the damage was minimal.
