You hardcore Sprint car guys probably don’t even think twice about stuff like the video below featuring racer Randy Hannagan but us mere mortals sure do! In the video you will see some crashes but that’s not the reason you are here. The main event is when Hannagan stands on the gas coming out of a corner and the car dead hooks and pulls the front end a couple of feet up. It may be our eyes lying to us but is there a little tire smoke coming off the big rear meats of this thing as Randy Hannagan is trying to leave the bonds of gravity?
I’m going to have a shot at seeing my first winged Sprint car race this summer and I am pretty excited. As a kid watching them race on TV and then keeping a bit of a distant eye on them as time has advanced, the chance to finally see them in person is something I am really pumped up about. When you look at the advancement of racing over the years, few vehicles have stayed as true to their roots and history as sprint cars. We’d love to see a younger AJ Foyt in one of these against Tony Stewart, Steve Kinser, and Doug Wolfgang among others.
These things put on the greatest show in circle track racing. Between the noise, the sound, the sideways stuff, the speed, and the occasional monster wheelstands…what’s better?
Well Brian, it’s too bad you never got to see the 410 outlaws race at Eagle, NE. A one third mile high banked oval and they would hit 100 mph on the straights. The single car timed laps were the best, where you could hear each individual engine working. An A or B feature with twenty to thirty 410 powered sprint cars all vying for a win is a sight to see, and will leave your ears ringing even until the next morning.
