As every BangShifter knows, there is not direct link between someone’s ability to afford a car and their ability to operate it properly. How many times have we featured well to do people here wrecking their expensive cars after running out of talent. Well we have a classic example of that today and we have Clay king to thank for the tip to the video. This is a pretty ugly wreck and we’re hoping that the driver and passenger (if there was one) had belts on because if they did not, there’s definitely huge potential for physical harm here.
In the most basic of terms what we have here is a failed burnout. The driver gets the tires spinning and tries to carry the smoker (sans smoke) as far as he can down the road. After a couple hundred feet, the car is making some pretty big speed and all of a sudden it makes a strong move to the right, the driver cannot catch it, and the car veers off the road and smashed face first into the (what we assume is) guardrail. This looks like the classic case of someone jerking the wheel when making a gear change and upsetting the car.
Yes, the new Z06 is supposed to be the most capable Corvette ever. Yes, it is equipped with more technology and safety devices than virtually anything else that GM has ever produced but you ca shut them off and take matters into your own hands. See how good that worked?
Since these cars have not been for sale that long, we are guessing that this particular car has few miles and was barely broken in. The impact has to have totaled the thing and judging by the shocked (and profane) reaction of the guy taking the video, he wasn’t expecting this outcome either. We figured the Corvette was going to disappear into the woods, but there’s a really stout barrier in there and the barrier won this fight in a knockout.
Long time ago I learned that a car with stupid or near stupid power should be tested in an empty parking lot. Yes I had wreck one car cause I thought with my experience it wouldn’t be a problem, wrong!
Luckily it only it damaged a bumper and grille.
Looks like the owner didnt get the optional Driver Talent on his fancy Corvette.
