Stuff like this is what keeps me excited to pound the keys every day for BangShift. Why? When’s the last time you ever saw anything even close to like this before? You are looking at a 1956 Ford C500 Marmon Herrington Range Tender fire truck that was one of 11 ever built for the Canadian government. Packing a 272ci Y-block V8 engine, four wheel drive, and the snub nosed looks of a bulldog, the open cabbed truck is perfection on all levels of toughness. The fact that this one has been restored to full beauty and functionality is a huge plus as well. If you are a collector or lover of fire apparatus, this is a rare chance to get your hands on one of the most uniquely build fire fighting rigs ever.
The seller claims that the truck comes in somewhere around 8,000lbs and he provides a load of detail and some historic photos as well, showing the front nozzles at work dousing flames ahead of the red beast. While we are not experts regarding this stuff, we are taking the seller’s word that this is one of the most rare examples of a 1950s heavy duty fire fighting rig you’ll ever see.
We do not know what these trucks cost the Canadian government but we can guess that they were a pretty penny in the 1950s. But, when you want something custom built to meet your specifics needs you have to pay up. That’s how it works.
It would be beyond awesome to hop in the open cab and cruise this truck around. People would absolutely freak and you’d know that they would have never seen another one like it in person!
Cooler than any fire truck toy I ever had…
