So we’ll start by telling you that this 1966 Jeep Super Wagoneer is in Norway of all places at the minute but when you learn about its coolness you’ll understand why shipping it “home” ain’t all that big a deal. So often when we talk about vehicles that have been “RestoModded” we’re looking at a machine that has lost most of its original character. Yeah the outward shape may be the same but there are other elements that just disregard the legacy of the car or truck and it just kind of becomes a literal shell of itself. We are happy to report that this particular 1966 Jeep has not only avoided that fate, it is better for the experience.

What the Norwegian owner did was take the existing truck and without screwing it up, made it more fun and capable to drive. Disc brakes have been added up front, the transmission has been swapped for an overdrive automatic unit, and the best part is that he’s kept the original 327 “Vigilante” engine and added aftermarket EFI and electronic ignition. This truck is going to look, sound, and smell the way it should but drive way better in different conditions than before. Win!

The interior is sweet and according to the ad this is just one of 1100 of these made. The bucket seats and console are pretty snazzy for the era and we’re guessing that this was a pretty pricey unit when it rolled off the assembly line. The red guts also stand in stark contrast to the white exterior which has all of the right trim and pieces that it should need.

A genuinely cool and altogether respectful series of upgrades to a true American classic. One of the earliest examples of a modern SUV and boy is it neat!
