You all know that we love station wagons around here. We love them with big blocks, with small blocks, and with lots of options and with none. This particular wagon is interesting because it is not a show queen and it is certainly not 100% bristling with muscle but it could be. That’s where the potential starts with us.
The seller of this 1969 Ford Country Squire talks about how the car has 13,000 original miles but we’re thinking it is probably 113,000 because of the fact that it has some rust in the doors and quarters. The floors are perfect to the best of our ability to analyze the photos of the floor. The car was clearly bought by someone who was going to use it for work. The 390ci FE big block made plenty of power and the interior was filled with rubber floor mats and bench seats. This thing is like a miniature prison bus!
Buying this wagon and swapping in a 428/4-speed combo while leaving the body utterly and completely the same as it is would land this car into a category of coolness that few ever get to. Hell, a Coyote motor with a turbo would be awesome as would a 347 stroker and any other variant of pissed off V8. Sure you COULD slap a 2.3L EcoBoost into this massive nose but the little bastard would be swimming in there no matter how much power it made.
Anyone slapping an Ecoboost in there should be slapped in the head with an FE block….
This is your dip shit idea! Run it as is!!!
Needs an LS and a glide.
I love it. I would run it as is, maybe a matching set of tires. Put a hitch on it and tow ’70’s vintage trailer with it and fill the back windows with water slide decals of all the places I go.
Not sold. Its relisted now, opening bid of 3500, BIN 6900.
Not a Country Squire, It\’s a Ranch Wagon or a Country Sedan. If the rubber mats are factory it\’s a Ranch Wagon. Squire\’s had wood molding sides. Ranch Wagons had rubber mats, Country Sedan\’s had Carpet. I sold a lot of them.
