This 1988 Suburban Is Throwback Perfection And Original As They Come. Me Want Bad!

Our friend Shaggy owns this 1988 Suburban, and when I was recently in the market for a new Suburban he showed it to me and made me drool over it. Daphne wanted something newer, which I understand, and quite frankly this thing was so nice I was afraid to get it. Like too nice to put parts in nice. The ironic thing is that I did end up with a newer Suburban, but one that is also so nice I can’t actually haul anything in it. Such is life I guess. But if you are looking for what may be the nicest square body Suburban on earth, this is your jam. It is a 3/4 ton, Fuel Injected 454, TH400, hitch, all the good stuff. This thing will tow a house and be a fun ride that will garner lots and lots of attention. It is rust free and a clean truck for anyone looking. Shaggy is picky. He likes nice, clean stuff. So if he says it works it works perfectly. If he says it is nice it is really nice. If he says it needs a little attention it is still nicer than anything you’ve every owned. LOL Check it out.

If you buy it, please do to it what we would. Remove the running boards, lower it 5/7, and put 17 inch stock style rally wheels on it. Done.

Here is all the info. You are going to love this thing! Contact Shaggy, aka Travis, directly at (308) 379-0354 via text or phone call.

I’ve decided to sell my 1988 Suburban because it’s just too nice for me to use.  I wish I could just park it forever, but that’s not good either. I would rather find something I can park at Walmart and not care when someone’s kid opens their door into it.  I would like this to go to someone that will continue to take care of it. If there is anything you think I missed in the pictures I would be glad to take more.

Anyways, it’s the nicest square body suburban I have found and I will try to detail everything that I can.  Sorry in advance if this is boring.  I haven’t found any rust on it at all.  It was bought new by a purple heart veteran at the local Chevy dealership and has always been stored inside.

It’s a 3/4 ton and has the 454 with the fuel injection still original.  The check engine light cycles on and off when it’s started just like it’s supposed to.  It sat for three months this winter and didn’t hesitate at all when I turned the key.  The air conditioning has been converted, but it could probably benefit from a charge.  The air conditioning cools, but it definitely isn’t cold cold.

The front seats are buckets with the console.  The middle row folds down appropriately and the seat latches work as they should.  The third row is removable and it does have the heat/air in the rear.

The power windows and locks operate wonderfully.  The column is tilt.  The cruise control works as it should.  The battery was new in 2015.  The oil was changed last fall.  I’ve only put about 100 miles on it but I have no complaints.  It would probably benefit from a buff job and thorough vacuuming but I consider it presentable as is.

It starts, runs, and drives great.  It cruises down the highway with no issues.  The only thing that I’ve found that I can say doesn’t work is that the tape player doesn’t eject.  I haven’t messed with it, I’ve just been listening to the tape, which it plays great.  The speakers sound good, and the tape player works, it just doesn’t eject when you press the button.

Anyways, my price on it is $6,900.  Feel free to text/call.  I usually don’t answer calls from numbers I don’t know so leave a voicemail and I’ll get back to you.  If you text me with your email address I will not respond.  I get enough crap in my email already. I might consider trades, but I don’t like junk.

Why waste thousands of dollars? why not get a good 4L80 and the stuff to control it? Lower 1st gear plus overdirve. And best of all the stuff is plug and play.

10-4 on the gv. That and Chad’s lowering and wheel swap and you’d still be in at less than $12K. It even has the old school electric trailer brake setup and those buckets look sweet. Don’t know which I wish more; that I had the money or that I lived in Cali.

I have the brackets to hang leaf springs and a dana 60 up front. I’d ditch the th400 for a 4l80 with a NP205. I’d put 8 inches of lift Military 36 Humvee take offs. Then make everyone cry. Lowered trucks are dumb.
