This May Be The Cleanest 1980’s Ford Dually On The Planet!

This May Be The Cleanest 1980’s Ford Dually On The Planet!

BANGshifter Rocco B sent in this amazingly perfect 1985 Ford Dually listing off Craigslist in Dallas and we’ve got to say we are impressed. I’m as die hard a Chevy guy as you will find, and I’m telling you this truck is amazing. With only 71k miles, garage kept, no bad weather, etc, etc, it is understandable that it would be nice. But this nice? The owner was clearly a very particular person. With a 460 and a C6, there isn’t anything about this truck that isn’t bulletproof. Someone needs this tow rig.

Here is all the info from the seller:

1985 Ford F-350 Crew Cab 7.5L Gas Dually

The Pictures Tell The Whole Story – Super Rare Find!!!

71,248 certified original miles! – Must see to appreciate!

This is probably one of the nicest early 80’s F-350’s still left in existence.  This truck is a true one owner that has always been garaged since new and owned by a Ford car collector to haul classic cars to car shows and drive unloaded to his lake house.  90% of the miles never had a trailer or load attached.  This truck is perfect to show in car shows or use as very cool retro hauler for car or horse shows.  This will strike up more conversation than a new 2017 Platinum!

Interior – The all original cloth interior is as close to new as you will find anywhere.  Interior carpets front and rear are in excellent condition with zero stains or color fading.  The original dash pad is NOT cracked and in excellent condition.  All door panels are in good condition and kick panel carpet looks like new.  All window regulators functions as they should.  Note – power windows were not available in a crew cab in 1985.  Dash gauges function as new and all work including very rare optional factory tachometer.  Once again, see pictures, they tell the story!  This is a XL series trim which was the highest trim level available in a F-350 Crew Cab Dually.  This hard loaded truck also has the super rare factory clock and the factory Ford “Electronic” stereo that still works. AC does come on and function but will need to be charged with Freon to be cold.  All options are on this truck such as tilt wheel, cruise control, etc.

Exterior – The red paint is in excellent original condition with great gloss and color depth.  The paint is getting thin in certain areas from frequent washing and polishing but does not distract from the great original condition.  Wheels are factory OE Ford wheels that were chromed.  Matching Kelly tires all the way around that have approximately half tread.  Center caps could be replaced to set the truck off as they have some rust that does not show up well in the pictures.  Note all of the aftermarket chrome accessories!  Chrome roof rack, extra deep chrome bumper and grill guard.  Stainless steel running boards all around with working lights.  This truck looks as good at night as it does during the day! See pictures!  The truck bed is very nice and does not have any dents/scratches under the bed mat.  Bed mat was in place since the truck was new!

This truck has a very rare and expensive inverted 5th wheel setup by Binkley/Holland.  This is truly still one of the best hitches on the market which was rarely installed due to the high cost for the bed plate and the separate hitch.  This allows a true totally flat bed when the pin is down and is easily raised when needed similar to a modern gooseneck.  If the new owner wishes, the original 4″ cutout from the bed modification was saved since new and can be easily put back in place.  I will also include the inverted 5th wheel hitch that can easily go on any new gooseneck trailer that has a round tube by simply removed the gooseneck hitch and installing the inverted hitch.  This is a expensive setup that is actually easier to hookup and viewed by many as stronger and more stable than a gooseneck hitch.

Mechanical – See pictures!  Engine bay is all original and detailed very nicely.  The 7.5L 460 gas engine starts and runs out great with tons of power!  The engine is all stock and has never been modified outside of OE Motorcraft waterpump replacement, carb rebuild and radiator replacement from age. All belts and hoses have also been replaced due to age.  Oil changes were always done at 3,500 miles with a genuine Ford oil filter.  The transmission shifts great and is original.  Underside of truck is very nice with ZERO body rust.  Always garaged and never left the North Texas area.

To a solid blue oval to the core guy this is pushing all the right buttons. What a great truck! Looked it up and the price is very good. Wish I had the room and money it would be mine! Thanks for making my day Chad

I’d still be cautious. A neighbor bought an incredibly nice one of those a couple years back for only about 2,500, what a deal…one trip through the mountains to the desert with a toy hauler and it was back on the market again for the same amount. Something to do with continuous small problems cropping up and the inner fenders catching on fire, that leaned-out gas 460 could just not pull a load over the hill. Diesels got popular in trucks from some solid reasons.
